"We do not negotiate with terrorists"

I always found that line amusing, if not proof of Machinist ignorance. Throughout history, governments and powers have declared their unwillingness to talk with extremist cells, but is negotiation not based on the assumption that it is a mutual desire?

A terrorist does not act on a whim. An act of 'terrorism' is a public statement of the most extreme nature, to prove a point and to make things heard. To offer compensation removes the aim, the purpose of whatever it is the 'terrorist' is doing. They do not want payment. They want justice. It is a simple concept to grasp, and yet the combined power of AI seems to miss it.

Terrorists do not want to negotiate.

-- This is a piece I did as part of an ongoing image/brief writing story for 'The Matrix Online' to explain my character's thoughts on the new dynamic of 'war', added to the simulation. It's a piece I'm particularly proud of, as the explosion is self made, as is the adding of necessary light and flying corpses. (LoL)

the fact that it has in-game art as stock for the pic puts this in the "not allowed" category though,... it will probably get pulled down :(
